WCB2/ WCBD (Water Cooled Brake)

* Torque capacities up to:
2,700,000 lb·in
304.830 N·m
Thermal capacities up to:
2,600 HP
1.940 kW
* Airflex WC air applied and spring applied water cooled brakes are designed for applications requiring high horsepower absorption. Its design incorporates copper alloy wear plates which transfer heat rapidly to circulating water. They are used for heavy-duty braking and tensioning applications, such as those found in metal and paper processing, as well as for cable tension control on logging, marine mooring and winching equipment. The unit can also be used as an absorption dynamometer.
* Used in metal and paper unwind stands, tension brakes, slip clutches, dynamometers, cable tension control in logging equipment and marine mooring systems.
* Air or spring-applied water-cooled disc brakes designed for applications requiring high horsepower absorption.
* Incorporates copper alloy wear plates, which transfer heat rapidly to circulating water.
* Used for heavy-duty continuous slip braking and tension applications.
* Dynamic coefficient of friction is higher than static coefficient of friction.
* Hi-coefficient linings are available providing more torque and a 1:1 static to dynamic coefficient rating.
* Cylinder design provides for more torque in the same diameter and less shimming as the friction discs wear.
* Pressurizing the cylinder causes the piston to clamp the friction discs between their water jackets. Heat generated at the friction interfaces is quickly transferred to the circulating coolant.
* The number of friction discs and disc diameter indicate unit size.
* Stick-slip is eliminated due to specially formulated friction material interfacing with the copper alloy surface.
* Closed-loop water cooling systems available.
* On mobile equipment, the engines cooling system can be tapped to provide coolant to the element.
* Protective coatings are available to minimize corrosion in marine applications.
